Presenter Dr Cheryl True is a Quad Cities native, a graduate of Augustana College, and the University of Iowa College of Medicine. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine, and was honored to be one of the first 204 physicians recognized as diplomats with Board Certification in the new, growing specialty of Lifestyle Medicine. She understands the importance of traditional medical care, but is concerned that it isn’t halting the rising tide of chronic diseases related directly to our lifestyle choices. Traditional care tends to treat the symptoms, but not the root causes of many problems plaguing us today. By practicing the principles of Lifestyle Medicine, she feels she has a powerful tool to prevent, treat and reverse disease by thinking outside the clinic, empowering individuals, building community, and educating not only the public, but physicians and other health care professionals as well. She sees a future where the healthy choice is the easy choice, benefitting not just human health, but the health and well-being of animals, and the entire planet as well.
