Program Description

Body

Explore America’s own indigenous art form, jazz, which was born here in the United States and continues to thrive today. Important musical figures, including Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, and Miles Davis will be discussed. It will help people understand what they are hearing and deepen their appreciation and enjoyment of jazz. This presentation by Mark Tonelli, Assistant Professor of Music at Millikin University, will include a slide show and musical examples.
