Program Description

Body

Quad City area teens (ages 11-19) are invited to participate in a reading challenge and contests during the month of October.

For the Teentober Reading Challenge, during the month of October, for every 250 minutes you read, you will be entered into a Moline Library $25 Amazon gift card prize drawing. You will earn a prize for the first 250 minutes you read as well. If you read at least 1000 minutes, you will be entered in the QC Libraries’ grand prize drawing for a chance to win a $50 Visa gift card.

Pick up a Teentober reading log at the 2nd Floor Information Desk, the Teen Corner, or print from the link to the right.

For the Teentober Contests, teens can create film, a performance, a piece of writing, or a piece of visual art that showcases their creativity and connects to the 2025 theme: "One of Us is Lying." Teens can work on their own or in teams of up to 5 members, and can submit only one entry per contest category. A Google account is needed to submit entries through the online form. Entries can be submitted any time from now until October 31.

  • Film Contest | Videos must be under 5 minutes. Work on your own or with a group of up to 5. Performance of original music, dance, or spoken word may also be entered in this category.
  • Visual Art Contest | Art entries must be submitted digitally. Let us know if you need help uploading your work.
  • Writing Contest | Writing entries must be 1000 words or less.

Special awards will be given out at the Teentober Red Carpet Awards Event on November 13, 2025, at the Putnam Museum and Science Center.
