Program Description

We're connecting with our community with this out of the library tour at the Augustana College John Deere Planetarium!

Register to attend our Moline Public Library session of the annual Season of Light Show and stay to visit the Fryxell Geology Museum.

“Season of Light” is a multimedia show that uses the planetarium sky projector, astronomical images, music and narration, all projected onto a 30-foot dome to tell the story of how holiday traditions are connected to the sky.

December is the darkest month of the year and people all over the world have held festivals, lit candles and tried to bring light to the darkness of the winter sky.

The show, led by Dr. Lee Carkner, explains the seasons, the winter constellations and speculates about the Star of Bethlehem.

Planetarium staff suggest parking on 38th Street Hill or in the WVIK parking lot.  Limited parking for those with disabilities is located closer to the planetarium.
